Belt Graduation Information
Parents of White Belt students,
First, thank you for choosing Elite Martial Arts! We are glad to have your family as a part of our Martial Arts Family!
Every quarter we have a belt testing followed by a graduation ceremony. They usually occur during the second week of February, May, August, and November.
On the first week of every month, their "Warrior Code of Conduct" assignment is due and they will receive a red, white, or blue stripe on their belt.
On the second week of every month, "Stripe Testing" takes place during regular class. Black stripes are awarded to students who have attended enough classes and displayed enough knowledge, effort, and good behavior to move on to the next level.
The second week of February, May, August, and November, students will be tested in their regular class between Monday and Thursday. Students who earn their third black stripe will attend the Graduation Ceremony that Saturday.
A test fee of $30 is due at the time of the test.
Graduation for new students will take place at 4:30. At the ceremony, they will display their newly acquired skills and then participate in the belt-changing ceremony where they will receive their new belt and certificate. All family and friends are invited to attend. Students who are unable to attend will receive their belts in class the following week.
There will not be regular class the morning of graduation.
There is "Belt Promotion Evaluation" sheet provided on the month of the scheduled Belt Graduation. These are for parents to use at their discretion. It is another way to address any issues students may be having outside of the EMA gym.

New Teen/Adult Students
At EMA, our adult students are offered a rank test each quarter. Testing is not mandatory and some choose not to do it at all. Students who wish to advance in rank to pursue a black belt in our system must go through the testing process.
The second week of February, May, August, and November, students will be tested in their regular class. This quarter's test will be during regular classes Tuesday and Thursday night (Feb. 12-15).
The test is a rigorous workout meant to test skills and conditioning. Students who have at least 6 weeks of training are eligible to test for their yellow belt. For each belt level after that it takes 3 months. Adequate class attendance is required to test.
The test covers kickboxing, krav maga, and Jiu Jitsu skills learned since the last test. For advanced students, the test is cumulative. Along with knowledge in self protection skills, students must display tenacity, durability and resourcefulness, while controlling their opponent and themselves.
Anyone can participate in the testing process, but if you plan to be evaluated for rank advancement, a $30 test fee is due before the test.
If you are unsure whether you qualify for testing or you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me at any time.
Thank you,
Daniel Klapheke
